Kendo Ontario December Events
We hope you and your family and friends are healthy and safe. Kendo Ontario continues to promote Kendo and the importance of community during these ‘unprecedented times’ and is pleased to host Two (2) upcoming ‘Zoom’ events to close the year.
- Junior Kendo meets Team Canada: Sun Dec 6 @ 10:00am – 12:00pm
- Senior Kendo Social MeetUp: Thu Dec 10 @ 8:00 – 9:00pm
About ‘Junior Kendo Meets Team Canada’
All Junior Kendo members are encouraged to join this event and interact with members of Team Canada in a series of fun activities. All ages are welcome!
Details of this event will be sent out early next week!
About ‘Senior Kendo Social MeetUp’
Senior Kendo members also need to reconnect, especially given we have not been able to share keiko over the past 8+ months. Similar to the year’s Social MeetUps at the Canadian Kendo Federation’s Virtual sessions in July and Kendo Ontario’s Bokuto Ni Yoru Kendo Kihon Waza Keiko Ho seminar, we will be mixing attendees randomly into smaller groups and into different ‘break out rooms’ to socialize. It will be a good opportunity to meet new Kendo people or re-establish old relationships as we close the year. Participants are encouraged to bring a drink (or two) and be prepared to reminisce, share stories and enjoy the ‘virtual’ company of their fellow Kendoka.
Date: Thursday December 10, 2020
Time: 8pm – 9:00pm (may vary depending on number of attendees)
Preparation: Attendees are encouraged to bring their own ‘refreshments’
Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84494506508?
Password: Please ask a Sensei for the password
It’s unfortunate that we are not able to meet and practice together as we have in the past but we hope these events will enable the members of our Kendo community to stay connected as we close and celebrate the end of 2020.
Thank you for the ongoing support,
Bryan Asa

2020 JCCC Junior Tournament ***Cancelled***

Given the current COVID-19 situation and in the best interest and safety of the members of our Kendo community, we regrettably announce the cancellation of the 2020 JCCC Jr Kendo Tournament scheduled for Sun April 26, 2020.
We understand the news is disappointing given the importance in developing our junior members. However, once the situation improves, we will review the calendar of events scheduled for the remainder of the year and see if we can reschedule.

CKF Covid-19 Announcement
Guidance and advisory for events being organized and held in the Canadian Kendo, Iaido and Jodo community.
In recognition of the current situation of Covid-19, Canadian Kendo Federation advises that events scheduled for March and April be postponed or canceled if possible. For those that cannot, we advise announcing that anyone having any symptoms (e.g. fever, cough, rhinorrhea, pneumonia) and those who have travelled abroad within the last 14 days to any country that are under travel advisory (https://www.canada.ca/…/20…/latest-travel-health-advice.html) to not participate in any kendo community events.
We advise clubs follow these guidelines as well for people joining practices.
Based on the risk assessment, kendo and kendo tournaments would be considered a high risk event.
Furthermore, the list of affected and high risk areas cover many our community members backgrounds, so special care should be taken.
For the Canadian National Kendo Championships in July, we do not recommend that participants make flight and accommodation bookings until further notice. The CKF will reassess the situation at the end of April again regarding the scheduling of the Kendo Nationals.
